South Side public schools through pursuing three goals:
Building SSU as an effective organization
Advocacy and organizing
for policy reform that to Chicago schools (particularly by
protecting and strengthening the authority of the Local School Councils)
Education and leadership development for LSC members and school stakeholders to build LSC capacity to aid school improvement
Currently, SSU has 100
members. These are not only LSC leaders, but also active parents,
community members, and educators.) SSU meets at various South Side
locations to attract new members and to become familiar with each member's school.
